Feeder cattle narrative report for Thursday 09/13/18

Cattle and Calves:  2262      Week ago:  1192      Year Ago:  2123

   Compared to last week:  Steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs steady; feeder 
steers over 600 lbs firm to 2.00 higher, feeder heifers over 600 lbs steady.  
Slaughter cows and bulls 1.00-2.00 lower.  Receipts on offer included a several 
packages of attractive new crop calves and several loads of feeder steers and 
heifers over 600 lbs.  Trade active. Demand good.  Bulk of supply Medium and 
Large 1-2 400-850 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 12 
percent, slaughter bulls less than 1 percent, replacement cows less than 1 
percent, and feeders 88 percent.  The feeder supply included 58 percent steers 
and 42 percent heifers.  Near 56 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
