Lexington, KY Thur Oct 11, 2018 USDA-KY Dept Ag Market News

Receipts: 1801 Last Week: 2640 Year Ago: 1549

Compared to last week steer calves under 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 5.00 lower
with light to moderate demand; heifer calves under 600 lbs sold 5.00 to 8.00
lower with most decline on featherweights. Weaned cattle over 600 lbs and
yearlings selling steady to 1.00 higher; however health concerns over fleshy
bawling lightweight calves due to unseasonably hot days and cool nights and a
cool front projected to significantly change daytime temps by mid-week has
negatively impacted the stocker calf market this week. Quality was average
through good. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 lower with light demand and slaughter
bulls sold steady to 1.00 lower with moderate demand.
